Teresa Waldman
Teresa knows what it is like to be unfit. Born uncoordinated, slow and chubby, she avoided all things physical [except horseback riding] throughout her childhood. In her late teens she fell in love with the outdoors, and spent as much time as possible canoeing, hiking, and snow shoeing. In her mid twenties she became interested in Eastern physical disciplines: studying tai chi, vipassana meditation and Iyengar yoga. The yoga stuck, and she has been practicing consistently and teaching sporadically for the past 28 years.
Seven years ago a skiing accident brought her to physical therapy at the Mendocino Sports Club, and she stayed on to explore the resources there. She found cardio and resistance training to be a satisfying compliment of her yoga practice, and she decided to share her enjoyment with others. She holds a personal training certification with American Fitness Professionals and Associates, a Mat level 1 Pilates certification with PHI Pilates, and continues to study yoga with Master teacher Kathleen Flannagan. She is also certified in wilderness first aid. She teaches yoga, and is available for traditional personal training, as well as private yoga and pilates sessions. She is delighted to be part of Mendocino Boot camp, as her
love for being out of doors is ongoing, as is her love of sharing the joys (and yes, miseries) of exercise with others.
Teresa was born in Beverly Hills, raised in Mendocino, and spent her college years in British Columbia. She currently lives in Mendocino with her husband Sam, an architect, and daughter Laurel who is a senior at Mendocino High School. Their son Rowan attends university in Boulder Colorado.
